Sue completed an honours
degree at Rhodes University, and after this spent nine years farming
in the Eastern Cape. Here, witnessing at first hand the desperate
poverty of rural communities, she was motivated to become involved
in community development. Her first project was to build schools
in Giyani: she was handed the architect’s plans whilst standing
on a bare piece of land, and went on to raise over R10 million for
the Khanyisa Schools. Today, this is a fully-functioning seat of
learning.
From these early beginnings in 1990, Sue developed Peiser &
Associates, and has been personally responsible for raising over
R100 million for a wide range of educational and charity projects.
Sue is one of the co-founders of BackaBuddy, an online fundraising
website which links charity champions with charitable causes through
sporting events.
